HistoryMakers is the youth ministry of AsiaLink, a Christian mission agency connecting churches in the UK, Ireland and the USA with ministry among the unreached peoples of Asia. Our passion is the challenge of those who have little or no opportunity to hear the gospel.
We are convinced that the task of the local Church and of each believer is to assume responsibility for Christian mission and will do all we can to awaken and encourage missionary vision in the next generation. We firmly believe that God wants churches around the world to work alongside Him to fulfil the Great Commission. A critical feature of our work is the investment we make in these congregations.
AsiaLink partners with national believers throughout several countries of Asia including China, Borneo, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia, Bhutan and Kashmir. Within these countries alone there are approximately 1,000 unreached people groups.
PASSION is required in order to penetrate some of the most unreached and inaccessible places on the planet. In these areas where Islam, Idolatry, Hinduism and spirit-worship––to name a few––dominate entire cultures, Satanic strongholds often remain unchallenged for centuries by any Missionary activity. The solution? Strategic prayer and a willingness to suffer for the sake of the Gospel. (Ephesians 6:18, 2 Timothy 1:8)
PURPOSE is in the heart of the believer who submits to the Father's will. God has a purpose for the world that has been unfolding throughout history. It's 'His Story' – not ours!! He has a hope and a future for every Christian in His overarching promise of redeeming a people from every tribe and tongue. (Genesis 12:3, Luke 24:45-47, Revelation 7:9)
PERSPECTIVE is needed in order to achieve this goal of making disciples of all nations. Jesus said "open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." More than likely, most of us won't of heard of far off places like Laos, Bhutan or Kashmir, let alone thought of praying for, or reaching them. Staying informed about distant places and having a world Perspective is essential in the task of missions.
It begins today, right where you are; in your family, with your neighbours, among your friends. Maybe it's to the man in the street. Being a world-changer starts right here. There is the possibility that you'll be called to the other side of the world, perhaps to some remote or difficult place in Asia. There are 2 billion un-reached people on this planet and most live far away. Either way, you have to Send or Go! You have to play a part - you can be a world-changer!
Christ’s last command, (Matthew 28:19) should be the first priority for all His followers. Not all of us can necessarily go but we can all be part of helping to make disciples. Our giving (of prayer, encouragement, financial support) and going (short term or long term) all contribute towards extending His Kingdom.
Ask God what role he wants you to play.
We are convinced that God has this “world-changing, history-making” role for every Christian in His global purpose. Whether people go to distant countries of stay at home is not the most important issue. What matters most is what people are hungry to discover: vision to live a life of purpose, to be part of "His-Story" – to be fuelled with the kind of Passion that Jesus displayed. Igniting that vision and passion is what HistoryMakers is all about.
